No one was injured this morning when a car struck the side of a school bus in front of the Ambriar Shopping Center on Main Street in Amherst, authorities said.
The accident occurred between 7:30 and 8 a.m.
The motorist –– a 16-year-old girl who recently got her driver’s license –– did not see the bus and struck the passenger side with a gray Mitsubishi as she exited the shopping center, said Amherst police Investigator Ben Placer.
Besides Amherst police, sheriff’s deputies and school officials also responded.
The bus driver had just dropped off students at Amherst County high school, and the only passenger aboard was her son, said Randy Tschetter, the school system’s transportation supervisor.
The teenager, who was en route to school, was cited for failure to yield the right of way, Placer said.
